Villa Las Palmeras

Some comments from previous guests:

Neil, Denise and Finlay Thomas, Nailsea, N.Somerset: "After two previous holidays at the villa, we thought long and hard about how we could improve the experience.  Much head scratching and then it dawned on us: stay longer!!  So we did, and were far from disappointed.  Attractions were carefully selected and fully savoured.  No English pubs or Fish & Chips, no crowded beaches or lager louts.  If you want to eat, beach and see the sights with the Spanish it’s easy, even in August!  Ask Nick and Linda what they like to visit and you won’t go far wrong.  As parents we have had our wonderful fill of Spain and rarely has our lively six year old son been bored.  The large pool has helped him to dramatically improve his swimming and the restaurants in Alhaurín have given us the opportunity to broaden his food fancies.  We would particularly recommend “La Alegria” halfway up Alhaurín’s main street on the left: great food, fantastic staff, really good with kids, and decent value if you’re hungry!!  Oh… and only bring half the clothes you were planning for and don’t worry about domestic stuff.  The facilities are fantastic: washing clothes saves on the excess baggage charges and food from the local shops can be easily prepared in the well appointed kitchen/dinner; dishwasher hums away while you’re swimming in the pool or at the beach!!  We’ll be back again….and again."

Jane, Graeme, Jonty & Evie Finlay, Solihull: "Another wonderful holiday at the villa.  We arrived with lighter cases, now knowing that towels, hairdryer, holiday paraphernalia, is already at the villa, but leave with suitcases packed with goodies from Mijas etc!  You were both fantastic hosts again and the villa is as beautiful as ever.  We want to come back again next year."

Michelle, Rebecca, Victoria and Gabrielle Male, Hampshire: "We have all had such a fabulous holiday, our 6th year here and still as wonderful. Love you both lots, cats and dogs too! Michelle"  "Thank you so much Linda & Nick. The last week has been great: just what all of us needed. Wish we could stay longer! Beckie"  "Best holiday I've had! Been brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you so much for everything you have done for us. Hope to be back next year. Love Vickki x"  "Thanks for such a good week, really want to stay, love from Gabby xxx"

Lee, Kelly, Luke, Ryan, Liam & Ross Ambrose, Bristol: "My wife and I took our four boys to Las Palmeras in May, and right from our start Linda and Nick welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. The villa is lovely, and just as you would imagine a real Spanish house to be like. The boys found the picking of fresh oranges from the orchard and using the juicer to produce fresh orange juice a great experience and were out picking oranges at every opportunity. The pool is beautiful and very well maintained, as is the patio area and gardens around. The charms of Rufus and the cats were welcomed and the boys still talk about Bandida now. This is an ideal holiday for anyone looking to sample real Spain, and having Linda and Nick on hand if needed is a real bonus. We will definitely return but for longer next time as a week simply isn't long enough.  Linda and Nick, thank you from all of us."

Chris and Wendy Shehan and grandson Joshua: "Lovely to come back here again.  We've all had a super time and the week has gone too quickly.  Here's to our next visit!"

Jane, Graeme, Jonty & Evie Finlay, Solihull: Thank you so much; this has been the best and most relaxing holiday since we had children over six years ago. The villa is fabulous; it has everything you need and it's in a wonderful setting in the middle of orange groves. You've been exactly as you said you would be: lovely and friendly when we see you but discreet so we've felt like the place is our own.  Our only moan is we didn't book two weeks and we will be back (if you'll have us!). Special thanks to Cat'tain Jack for being 'best friend' to our daughter Evie and your son Philip for teaching our son Jonty to row in a dinghy in the swimming pool - memories that will keep us going through a British winter.

Sue, Dennis, Zoe & Alice MacWilliam, Whitchurch, Hampshire: "We have had a superb holiday - days of endless sunshine in wonderful surroundings. The pool was the icing on the cake! The villa is lovely and nothing was too much trouble for Linda and Nick.  We had a fabulous evening at Santiago - delicious food and fantastic flamenco. We used the buses a lot - only €1.05 pp to Mijas or Fuengirola and the 9:30 from town gets to Mijas by 10am and gives you a good three hours to wander before it gets too crowded. Beware the timeshare spin-off on the coast! We were approached by an English lady and asked to answer a holiday survey. Then another lady arrives to assist and gives out lucky dip type cards. Before you know it you have won a star prize and are whisked off to spend two hours being persuaded to buy a 50-year membership to half-price holidays. There was no unpleasantness or really hard sell - but you came away realising you had just wasted two hours of your time and this lovely weather is too good to waste! However, nothing will dampen our spirits - we have had such a great relaxing holiday. ps had a fantastic final meal at Carolina!"

Daphne D'Aguiar and family, Guildford, Surrey: "Amongst our happier memories, our stay at Finca (Villa) Las Palmeras will be one of them!  The care you have taken in making sure your guests have everything they need including you yourselves as charming hosts, has provided us with a sensational week that we will never forget!  Thank you from all of us and look forward to coming back to stay with you."

Matt, Lizzie, Imogen and Felicity Curran, Saltwood, Kent: "Thank you for an absolutely superb holiday - we all really enjoyed it. The villa was fantastic - you have thought of absolutely everything we could have needed - even really obscure things like sellotape and 'Pass the Pigs' - your book selection was great too.  The villa was also beautifully clean as was the pool and the size of it really impressive.  Imi and Fliss were so thrilled to do so many lengths in it.  We asked Imi what the best bit of the holiday was and she said "the dogs" * so they were a huge bonus.  We loved the grapes and the orchard and had huge fun with the juicer.  Your advice and recommendations were absolutely 'spot on' and we always had terrific meals at the restaurants you recommended (Santiago was brilliant - especially the ambience and the flamenco dancing) as were the days out - Gibraltar was really worth a visit, as was Selwo Marina where the children will never forget swimming with sealions, and Mijas was terrific for riding donkeys and the view!  So thank you once again for putting up with us and lending us your lovely villa.  PS we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends."

Sarah, Richard and Joshua Smillie, Gosport: "What can we say - Fantastic accommodation, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic town, fantastic days out and amazing hosts!  Thank you for everything.  See you in September."

Neil, Denise and Finlay Thomas, Nailsea, N.Somerset: "Difficult to think of ways to improve the standard of accommodation; everything a guest needs for a great fun holiday and all necessary facilities.  Sometimes difficult to drag yourself away from the beautiful villa to see the sights.  Maybe a group of six guests would need more ‘lounge’ seating should they need to stay in for an evening [these can be provided says Linda] but a family of three or four is a doddle.  We found Alhaurín much busier than expected but the old part of town is beautiful and the busy bit just brings all necessary amenities close enough for convenience and far enough away to ignore if you like!  At night it’s very peaceful, and our hosts were only ever evident when volunteering to babysit, wonderful!!  The pool is large and, even when a dozen varied toys and inflatables bobbed around there’s still plenty of room for energetic swimming or play.  We also found the gardens and grounds beautiful and, thanks to your hard work, beautifully tended.  One massive benefit of your ‘villa in the grounds’ rather than a ‘standalone’ arrangement is that we felt very secure, not just because you’re lovely, welcoming people, but we also knew that, in the very unlikely event of something going wrong, we could toddle down the path!  Notwithstanding any of the above we never felt that this beautiful place was anything but ours throughout our entire stay – for this and so much more we sincerely thank you and, with your permission, we will be back."

Phil, Sue and Ben Short, Bexleyheath: "We have had a fabulous time for the last two weeks and would like to thank you for the care and attention to all the minor details.  You have succeeded in making our stay as comfortable as we would like it to be and it would be difficult to improve on your hospitality and accommodation."

Mark, Sue and Kieran Lamb, Rochester:  "A lovely stay; would recommend to all our friends.  Best of both worlds: relax at villa or travel around.  Pool's great.  All in all a lovely stay.  Accommodation fabulous value for money, clean and very comfortable."

Lindsay and Tim Dunford and family, Romsey:  "Had a great holiday in Southern Spain.  Linda and Nick made us feel very welcome.  The Villa was great with plenty of room with a very well equipped kitchen, as was the pool area.  The guest manual was very useful with lots of ideas and useful information." subsequent email: "This is a very rare occasion indeed that I should send an e-mail, but I just wanted to say thank you on behalf of all of us for a great holiday. You were so welcoming and kind. We enjoyed the villa, the pool obviously, the company you provided, and the insight you gave us into life in Spain."

Denise and Paul Boothman and family, Skipton:  "Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday - the boys, Denise and I have all had a great time!  The 'casita' is absolutely superb and spacious with everything you would ever need in the way of facilities.  We made good use of the BBQ and really felt relaxed and at home.  The boys loved the pool and were never out of it, and we all loved the little visits from Rufus, Sasha and Misha* to make sure we were comfortable.  Once again thank you for being the perfect hosts - I can't think of anything that could have improved our stay - it was exactly what we had hoped for.  We hope to see you again, and will pass on the good word to our friends. p.s. the lemons for the G&Ts were a lovely bonus!!"

The Barlow family, Bolton:  We had a very nice time staying in your villa, and very relaxing which is just what we wanted with an 11 week old daughter who coped well with the heat after a couple of days.  The pool was beautiful and a soothing break from the heat; and even the baby ended up having a dip.  We didn't see much of the town but we did eat at a few places including the local Ali Rumsdens (better than Harry Ramsdens!).  All in all we had a great time and thank you to you both.

Sarah and Russell Howard and family, Southport:  "A brilliant holiday!  A very homely home from home with all the equipment that I want when we are on holiday. I am glad to say that I didn’t use the iron, however very handy to have just in case.  Having the towels provided for the pool is so helpful as our suitcases are so full with all the children’s clothes that we can’t get anything else in, oh and the hairdryer is a real bonus. Finally to top it all you are both such friendly people that I am sure all your guests must warm to you within minutes of meeting you and you both respected our ‘space’ yet made yourselves available if we needed you."

Louise and Andrew Farmer and family, Poole: "Thank you for providing a wonderful home from home for our two weeks in the sun.  We all really enjoyed the break and count ourselves very fortunate to have stayed in such a fantastic location.  Your villa and pool provide a perfect base to see both the coast and 'real' Spain.  Everything we needed was supplied and your local knowledge helped us find our feet.  The kids are desperate to come back - we all hope we will be able to visit again."

James & Audrey Stephen and family, Peterhead, Aberdeen:  "Beautiful location, first class property with very friendly and helpful owners.   Piece de resistance is a wonderful, large, clean swimming pool which rendered our family hours and hours of pleasure.  Would highly recommend."

Charles and Fiona Litsher and family, Chelmsford: "A very well equipped villa, for adults and children.  Huge amounts of reading available which encourages you to relax even more.  Thank you both for a very enjoyable stay."

Helen & Andy Adams and family, Wantage, Oxon: Thank you for a lovely holiday.  We found the villa very comfortable and clean and the pool was very cooling on a hot day!  It was nice to feel welcome.  We would have no hesitation in recommending the villa to friends."

Wendy Shaw & Dave Blackburn and family, Horton Heath: "The pool was fab and the villa was a home from home.  Fantastic holiday with fantastic hosts.  Hope to see you again."

The Lee Family, Hindhead, Surrey:  "As we were travelling with our 4½ month old son for the first time, we were anxious that we pick the right place for our holiday.  Villa Las Palmeras turned out to be everything we could have wished for and more.  It was a complete home from home and our hosts, Nick & Linda, couldn’t have been more helpful.  Everything we needed for the baby was supplied right down to Linda shopping for nappies so we didn’t have the hassle of having to pack and bring them with us.  Linda even provided an evening of babysitting so we could enjoy a rare night out, although I will say the Spanish are very accommodating for children – not at all like England.  Overall we have had a fantastic holiday, made effortlessly easy by Nick & Linda.  Our only moan was that a week wasn’t long enough and we had to go home.  We would recommend Villa Las Palmeras to anybody, especially families with small children, and we most certainly will be back!"

Chris, Janice and Brogan Hyde:  “We all had a fantastic, relaxing holiday and our hosts Linda and Nick were wonderful.  The accommodation and surroundings were absolutely perfect for our little girl to enjoy in complete safety which, of course, gave Chris and I a great deal of peace of mind.  We returned home completely unwound and have already booked our return visit for next year.  Definitely recommended by us.”

Mr A Jordan, Guildford:  “I have visited Villa Las Palmeras on three occasions and found it to be a most beautiful and relaxing retreat.  The Villa itself is very spacious with all mod-cons and the pool is large, clean and of perfect cooling temperature for the hot sun!  The location is close to a busy and lively town with great nightlife if you so choose and yet you also feel that you are in the middle of nowhere as it is so peaceful.  Well worth it and we couldn't fault it!  Thank you very much for a fantastic stay and we'll be booking again.”

Mrs W L Shehan, Horton Heath: “Accommodation absolutely excellent and beautifully fitted – we didn’t want to leave.  If only we could live here all the year round!”

Mrs G L Godfrey, Whitton:  “Everything that you require is there for your convenience and enjoyment.  A blissful holiday.”

Mr and Mrs M Morris, Exmouth:  “What a wonderful place to stay – can’t wait to return next year!”

C J and R J Smillie, Southampton:  “There are two problems with staying at Villa Las Palmeras: Firstly, because of the relaxing and friendly environment you may forget to visit the local attractions and, secondly, at some point you have to leave and return to the real world!  Everything that a holiday should be – we can’t wait to go back.”
